The design of an advertisement is crucial in reaching new audiences. For this assignment, we had to create an advertisement to go with our fictional company. I set out to create a digital postcard. This postcard would go out to different smaller video game developers that are looking for a publisher.
Starting with my design, the tagline “Keep It Simple” immediately stuck out to me. Not only does it connect with my company’s name, but it also conveys the goal of the company. In Graphic Design Solutions, Landa conveys that advertising should grab someone’s attention and convey one key message per advertisement (Landa). The key message of my postcard is to express how the company can be of need to a client and the different services we provide.

For the overall design of the postcard, I decided to keep it cohesive with the logo in terms of the fonts and colors. One change I made from the original logo design was a reversal of the color scheme for the front postcard, as the white color stood out more from the blue.
To go with the tagline, I made the “Simple” in a bold font so it would stand out. Lande says that the text should be written in a conversational way (Landa). For the back of the postcard, I wrote out the text to have a casual tone yet express what we can do for clients. Along with that, I included a picture of myself, my contact information, and the logo of the company to help tie it in with the front.

Given that for the front of the postcard there is nothing in the headline that expresses it revolves around video games, I used a large picture of a person holding a controller. The back image of the text explains what the purpose of my company is for, so I didn’t feel a need to also include more images involving games.
The message of my postcard is to say what we can do for independent game developers so they can focus on development. I feel that overall the postcard is cohesive and helps express that message.
